SVCA acts to improve the environment for private investors and entrepreneurs
The Swedish Private Equity & Venture Capital Association performs a vital role in informing how the private equity industry works and what measures can be undertaken to create a favourable environment for private equity participants.
One of the Association’s objectives is to actively promote an improved environment for private investors and entrepreneurs. This is accomplished by actively participating in reports that concern the private equity industry, contributing to statements of opinion for new legislative proposals and regulations as well as lobbying those in power to improve the environment under which our members operate.
Our message to those in power
SVCA believes that the government should create an environment whereby a greater quantity of venture capital is supplied to the market; public capital should be supplied to the market and incentives should be provided to private individuals as well as companies that invest in these growth companies, directly or indirectly.
This requires:
• A capital injection in the short term, for example through a public fund of funds solution.
• Incentives to make it more attractive over the long term to invest in risk. For example, this could include the implementation of a private equity deduction for private individuals and other companies as well as provide the opportunity for private individuals to save in alternative savings plans, e.g., private equity funds.
• An environment that makes it possible for growth companies to survive on their own and independent from the need for capital injection by, for example, a loss carryforward or an equalisation account.
