Post-Acquisition Integration – Delivering Deal Synergies
Mar Baker McKenzie, Vasagatan 7, Stockholm
21 March 08:30 - 10:00
Recent M&A market data suggests that buyers are bringing in their post-acquisition integration teams earlier in the deal process to best position themselves to deliver intended synergies. This is great news for buyers, as involving the people who will integrate the target business early on will help the deal team get a better understanding of the strategic and operational fit of the deal.
Ideally, the integration team should be involved as early as the deal DD phase, and mobilize with full force as soon as the deal has been announced. Moving quickly is key to meet stakeholder expectations and delivering results fast. At the same time, successfully transforming a business requires careful planning, and an understanding that synergies cannot be realised overnight.
Any M&A deal and the integration process that follows is a time of uncertainty, disruption and risk. Companies that can proactively manage the process are more likely to retain their people and achieve the strategic goals of an acquisition. Underestimating the challenges can result in loss of significant value.
At this seminar, our post-acquisition integration experts Jo Hewitt and Anna Orlander will share practical experience and hard-earned lessons from working closely with multinationals in planning and implementing integration projects. Common pitfalls and best practices that we will discuss include:
- Resourcing and leadership
- Managing organisational and cultural differences
- Making integration planning part of the deal DD
- Best practice for planning and project management
